Step 1 — Read your size from the vehicle
Your tire size looks like 265/70R17: section width in millimetres, sidewall profile as a percentage of that width, and rim diameter in inches. It appears on the sidewall of your current tire and on the sticker inside the driver's door jamb. The door jamb lists what the manufacturer specified; the sidewall lists what is actually fitted, which may differ if a previous owner changed sizes.
- •Also note the load index and speed rating — the numbers and letter after the size
- •If the sidewall and door jamb disagree, the door jamb is the factory specification
- •Staggered setups run different sizes front and rear — check both axles
